
WU Poh-hsiung, chairman of Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang party, arrived in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, yesterday afternoon on the first leg of his six-day mainland visit.
The KMT chairman was received with a hug by Chen Yunlin, director of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China, at the Nanjing airport as many Taiwan businessmen waited with signs to welcome the visiting team.
"Currently, the mainland-Taiwan relations have entered a spring for peaceful development," he said, expressing hope that both parties would enhance exchanges and cooperation in the new circumstances
