Riiight ...

Not for use then, I take it.

Why don't they just get him bronzed?

We can put these on the mantle just beside the Jade Kou Ya that Polly posted a few month back.

Actually, this would be good on the back of the toilet.

In the west, they take a small doll and give it a dress like this and it is used to hide the spare roll of toilet paper.

In the west we'd say she wouldn't look out of place in a walk on role in Gone With the Wind. It's so out of date ... by about 150 years.

Is a 300,000RMB Chinese dress excessively luxurious? It is said the hostess of CCTV new yr gala’s will wear a silk dress which is worth 300,000 Yuan. As soon as this news passed through the internet, it caused numerous netizens’ strong criticism immediately. “300,000 Yuan means a 1000 unemployed monthly living expenses; 300,000 Yuan is equal to 500 farmers’ one year income in mid-west area, 300,000 Yuan is the same as 30 migrant worker’s annual income; 300,000 Yuan may let 60 dropout students enter the classrooms again ; 300,000 Yuan may give a hope to a impoverished school and It can help 300 children keep out wind and rain; 300,000 Yuan may cover 150 water storage pits in the water scarcity area and solve 150 household farmers’ water drinking problems. However now it only put on a person’s body , is someone excessively luxurious?” many netizens questioned it harshly  “We hope that CCTV directors let the hostesses put on plain clothes, a 300 Yuan dress does not mean you can’t host the gala, your country fellows are suffering the rare snow disasters and please think about these pitiful people who are struggling on their journey, is it such expensive clothes too cruel to put on your body or you just want to show the audiences a picture of peace and prosperity ?”

Those gowns are really a bad investment. *shakes head*

Any one with an ounce of brain would have used the money on a few pieces of jewellery that would not only grow in value over time but are also negotiable when you need the money and can be passed down from generation to generation.

Who would want to buy an expensive second hand dress or qipao?  The 1.3 million is as good as thrown away.

Of course the prices could have been inflated.  But even if the true price were 1/10 the quoted ones, I'd say it is a terrible waste.
