"Beijing - 2008"

A great painting, artistically accomplished and pregnant with meaning.  Bravo!

Be sure to catch the painter's other works as well.

About as subtle as a tank on a road paved with eggs.

But it is well painted.

Try looking again and positioning the players as east, south west and north.

Then look at the little girl with the bowl of apples.

Can you guess the meaning of the Tattooed girl in the south who is cheating???

Is the northern girl JUST western or is she Russian?

The west is completely naked.

Now think of the distribution of wealth and the attitudes towards it in China.

You got the direction wrong.  According to the rules of mahjong, if you sits in the east position and have "east" tiles, your win multiples, same for the rest of the directions.  So the girl with tattoo has to be the East by such inference, and the reference point, as suggested by the translation provided.

Her unkempt and messy hair suggests she has just woken up from her "sleep" to join this game.  In the ancient history of China, tatoo (on the face) has long been a form of punishment of law-breakers.  And tattoo on the body suggest she is probably a fallen woman/prostitute and has been "used/violated".

The west is completely naked.

Actually that's the South, countries in the southern hemisphere are doing good these days from selling raw materails and oil - Australia, South America, gosh, even Africa receives free donation of farming utensil and construction machinery from China.

I should also mention that I particular the surrealistic feel particularly striking and ingenius.

Sorry to dissapoint you all, but this is just a painted copy of a picture of a common scene in my living room a few years ago, when I was still a bachelor. Actually the girl lying down won the game that night, but it had nothing to do with Mahjong.

You have my place of abode also wrong which gives you a perfect zero.  Grin

And really there's no need to try and hide your embarassment at being wrong behind rude blustering. Moonshine can be extremely bright as I'm sure you already know.  Cheesy However if you want to make an issue of it (yawn) I will provide links to some pics illuminated by moonshine just for you.

Tip for today - When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

(damn this is much more fun than PF  Grin)

Grin *steps down from celestial pedestral of pearlly sheen...*

Ahem, actually I am a mahjong player, although a lousy one, it is a taxing game on memory.  But I do know the rules.  The directions of N, S, W, E do not mean nautical directions but direction of the players in relation to each other.

At the beginning of the game, one of the player has to throw dice to decide which "direction" he is.  Suppose he gets 6 points, that means he is E,S,W,N,E,S - south.  And his "down stream neighbour" will be W, while his "up stream neighbour" will be E.

Suppose also the player with tattoo is reasonably ambitious, and not just trying to win a "chicken feed", she should be trying to accumulate tiles that correspond with her direction thereby multiplying her win.  In this case she had 3 East (東) tiles, reasonably clear that she is in the East direction.

Very good, we have successfully derailed a political discussion into an "Introduction to Mahjong" lesson.  Wink

Ah yes ... sorry ... the argument was so stupid in the fact that the girls had such a warm glow that I figured the author must have been the original from radioactive HK.

Didn't realize that Ireland had a similar problem.

So ... have you ever seen the moon deliver the red, yellow and orange spectrum?

What does the dark, obscure, lifeless natural environment mean though?

You've been to the mainland.

Surely you have heard of the pollution problems.

Check out Suzhou ... where the water effervesses from the methane being released in the canals.

See the wonders of Beijing burrried under a layer of sand blown in from the ever widening desert.

Go to towns and cities where breathing is a problem due to the particulates and gasses trapped in the air.

Here's a concept ... China's a whore that sold it's beautiful natural environment to industry only to kill its people and that very natural environment.

 Grin Hahaha.
This is a great work oozing with discipline.  Don't think he could bring himself to do a slapdash job even if he wanted to.
